These are a bunch of extracts from my sketchbook on the project
We named out game Curatrix which is Latin for Guardian. The final outcome is that the creature, or Guardian, is projected into the real world through a hologram projector in the palm of the glove. The creature’s actions and stats are controlled through different hand motions or through the flip-up screen on the back of the hand.
This influenced our idea to use holograms to bring the creatures into the real world.
To conclude the segment on the virtual pets, we decided to stick with this idea. The pets would be completely customizable, making them unique to each player, and would live within the watch. You would have to feed it, level it up and battle it with friend’s creatures. We ended up calling these creatures Guardians. Below are two examples of Guardians.
Our initial response to the previous team’s ideas were that they were a bit silly. We tried to think of many ways to make the concept of physically entering a digital world seem at least partially plausible but to no avail. It was time to break out the concept wall.
An concept we really felt drawn to was the idea of bringing the digital world into reality instead of the old idea of making the digital world reality. We looked at many different sources of inspiration
