Global Illumination

Final gathering added. Light and colour from the Image Based Lighting (IBL) is being reflected onto the surface of the shape.

Global Illumination + glow emmission from the IBL. The lower cylinder has been coloured red to emphasis the global illumination. The colour now shines on the lower parts of the sphere.

Maya Exercises – Lighting

3 Point Lighting:

One light used at the back that will highlight the edge of the shape

Second spotlight added to accentuate the rest of the shape and give us an idea of volume

Third spotlight added to fill out the rest of the black areas, to make the shape more 3 dimensional and to add bounce lighting.
